The Royal Botanical Garden of Peradeniya is located about 6 km away from Kandy. It is surrounded by the river Mahaweli on three sides. It started as a pleasure garden of a Kandyan King in 1371. Now it is a major tourist attraction. More than 1.4 million foreign and national people visit Sri Lanka's botanic gardens every year. The Botanical Garden of Peradeniya is visited also by many schoolchildren and a lot of young couple s in love.

A dragonfly is an insect belonging to the order Odonata, suborder Anisoptera. Adult dragonflies are characterized by large multifaceted eyes, two pairs of strong transparent wings, sometimes with coloured patches and an elongated body. And perhaps thankfully for us because if the dragonfly were to understand that we have called it the “Devils darning needle” and “gwas-y-neidr” or the Adder’s Servant, it could laugh long and hard at us…and considering the dragonfly has been around for over 300 million years, it could be a really, really long laugh.
