Hindu's and sri Lankan believe this cut was made by king ravana,who ruled sri Lanka during ancient time. When he was bringing the Shiva lingam (statue of lord siva) from India lord Krishna stopped him to avoid bringing siva lingam to sri Lanka and Krishna stopped and kept the siva lingam in rameswaram,India. King ravana got angry and came sri lanka. He thought to built a large Siva lingam in tringomale. For that he made a long cut in this rock. But it also troubled by load Krishna.

Due to the location of Sri Lanka, within the tropics between 5o 55' to 9o 51' North latitude and between 79o 42' to 81o 53' East longitude, the climate of the island could be characterized as tropical. Identification 25cm. A fairly large, stocky Myna. Brownish plumage. Black hood. Bare yellow eye-patch. Very short frontal crest. Dark brown wing with large white wing patches, obvious in flight. White vent and center of belly. Yellow legs and bill. Sexes similar. Juveniles are duller and browner. Weather - Mild,clear sky (but unpredictable) Food & Lodging - Kataboola can be considered as remote village..If you want stay somewhere it's better to stay either in Nawalapitiya or Thalawakele..It's hard to find a hotel even.. Feel it but don't steal it..because we've seen couple of places where people went wrong around the waterfall..( On your way to the waterfall you may see some of them )
